Day 12: IN VARANASI Rise early for a boat trip on the sacred river Ganga as the sun's first rays light up the mile-long stretch of 'Ghats' (steps) that lead into the waters of the river. This afternoon drive to Sarnath, south of Varanasi, to the spot where Budhha first preached over 2,000 years ago. The archaeological museum displays the Ashoka Pillar (264-226 B.C.), the emblem of independent India. Overnight in Varanasi.
