Golden Triangle Tours

Golden Triangle Tourist Circuit in India

Most of the tour operators in India offer this trip as a round trip frequently spanning 7 to 8 days and this may or may not include your transfer by a luxury cab or a coach, your full board and lodge and all other necessary incidentals like entry tax and toll tax etc. depending on the terms you settle with your operator.

You may opt for your tour to begin at Delhi itself by visiting the Delhi sites in your first leg of the tour. The Delhi leg of the tour may include the prominent tourist sites like the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, Humayun Tomb, Purana Kila, Chandni Chowk, and the more modern sites like the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President’s House), North and South Blocks housing the Government of India, Sansad Bhawan (Parliament House), India Gate, Lotus Temple etc. The Red Fort provides an excellent Sound and Light Show, which encapsulates India history during the last 500 years. You may, if you so like, postpone the Delhi leg of the tour till the last phase of your trip.

The second major, rather the most important destination in this Golden Circuit is a visit to Agra to witness the one and only Taj Mahal. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a lovely memoriam and a mausoleum to his dear departed wife Mumtaz Mahal, who tragically passed away during child birth, the Taj Mahal is almost literally an elegy in stone. The world has many memorials located in many parts of the world, but there is no one like the Taj Mahal, and it is rightly said that if you haven’t seen the Taj, you have seen nothing of value. The most remarkable aspect of this monument is its translucence and its colour sensitivity. If you view the Taj at the crack of the dawn, then at midday, later at the time of lengthening shadows in the evening, and finally if you happen to witness in a moonlit night, such as Sharad Purnima (full moon night during October), you shall be mesmerized by its changing aspect, each time, every time. While in Agra, you may also make it a point to visit Mughal Emperor Akbarmausoleum at Sikandra and also his still born capital at Fatehpur Sikri.

From Agra, you may proceed direct to Jaipur. Popularly known as the Pink City of India, Jaipur is the state capital of Rajasthan, which encompasses the Thar Desert. The enduring appeal of Jaipur lies in its magnificent monuments, showcasing the splendor of a period long past. Jaipur happens to be the first planned city of India, created long before Lutyens New Delhi and Chandigarh designed by Corbusier. Jaipur’s appeal lies in its very well laid out wide avenues, its architectural elegance, its cultural imprint and its crafts and the aesthetic sense of its denizens. The major monuments in Jaipur are the City Palace, the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), the Amber Fort and Palace, Nahargarh Fort and the Jaigarh Fort. If you have the inclination and stamina, you may also visit all of these sites with a very well planned Walking Tour of the city. Other attractions in Jaipur include a hot air balloon safari, which is an excellent opportunity for a bird’s eye view of the city.
