India has all sort of terrains as it houses the Himalaya (house of snow) ranges, the northern plains, southern plateau and the north east. NEW DELHI
Delhi is the Washington DC of India like WDC houses the White house its Indian counterpart is situated in central Delhi known as President House.Central Delhi has Connaught place (CP). CP can be considered as the downtown of Delhi, buildings here were constructed by British who ruled the country for many years due to this fact the architecture and construction resemble that of the areas around the globe which were colonised by the British or have some British or European influence to them. CP has top brands to shop, some amazing and high end restaurants and dine in places and many bars and clubs to enjoy the night life. Near CP there is India gate which is the tribute to soldiers and other armed forces which attained martyrdom to fight for the country. This part of the city is known as New Delhi. Parliament house , President house, Supreme court, and other building of political importance are also present here. Other monuments situated in the central part of the city include Jantar Mantar and the structures on the Parliament Street which have great heritage value.

Qutub Minar built by Qutab-Ud-Din-Aibak of Delhi Sultanate in the 12th century is a 73m high tower also situated in Old Delhi. It has wide base and tapers at the top.

Lotus Temple is one more monument which is situated in Delhi and is a place of worship for people irrespective of any religion visit here. Built with white marble has a large capacity of accommodation and is a must visit as it offers a great architecture on display as it is one of the modern construction present in Delhi.

 

OLD DELHI

This small city also has a area known as Old Delhi which is in complete contrast to New Delhi in terms of architecture and housing. This part of Delhi was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan when he shifted the capital from Agra to Delhi. As Old Delhi was set by Mughal ruler in the 17th century it mainly has monuments of old school architecture. Jama Mosque is one such monument which although mosque but people of all religious belief in addition the the Muslim devotee visit. It can house 25000 at once. This part of Delhi is generally extremely crowded and is reached by metro although traffic is also allowed but is generally jammed due to crowding. Chandni Chowk has large wholesale market as well as retail shops which witnesses shoppers of various nationality everyday due to wide range of goods at a reasonable price. Red fort is another structure built by the Mughals which is at a few metre walk from Chandani Chowk market .It is named so due to use of red sandstone in its wall, co-incidentally it shares same architecture who designed the great Taj Mahal of Agra which is one of the seven wonders in the world.

Old Delhi is also famous for non veg food and people who are fond of eating various type of non veg dishes specially chicken pay a visit here to taste some along with a special beverage made up of watermelon.

 

AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE
Akshardham Temple built in the year the early 2000s situated in East part of Delhi is very popular among foreign travelers and is one of the most organised and largest places of Delhi as It was built few years back and was obviously built according to modern planning and architecture.
